Uma

You won't stop us.

According to Tavish, the Edgewater Hunters' butler, "Uma" is one of many names given to an entity that has a long history with the people of Portland. In a rare show of common ground, both the Scavs and the Locals consider her to be something of a guardian spirit. The Allmother, the Watcher in the Clouds, Mother Thunderbird, all of these titles and more belong to an enigmatic being that the party has, unfortunately, not felt very much love from. Historically she has manifested to Cascadia's people much as she has to the group, in the form of robots marked with the symbol of an eye crying a twin tear. Although in the past these marked robots would be helpful and protective of the people, a far cry from the hostile examples of today.   Another disturbing historical anecdote given by Tavish suggested that the robots themselves may only be carriers for Uma's influence. They don't appear out of nowhere. Usually one of them would be sighted near or enter a settlement for a brief period of time, after which any robots within the area would vanish overnight. They would be gone for days at a time, only returning later with fresh marks of the crying eye and no memory data of where they had been. The robots found at both the Erik & Sons Aerospace Factility and the Corvega showroom sported Uma's marks, and spoke in unusually human, breathless tones while attacking the party. They spoke of a plan, of bringing someone home to be heroes, and of how the party's efforts to "stop them" were futile among other disturbing and cryptic whispers.   The truth about what or who Uma is and what the party did to earn their ire is as elusive as it is confounding. Perhaps most confounding of all is that the party did not come to Cascadia without something like a warning of the Watcher in the Clouds. Sullivan, the chem-addicted tribal seer of the Redding prison of all people, had tried to tell the group something before they had departed. If only he had been allowed to finish, perhaps they would have more answers than questions.   The day after the Slabtown bombing, Uma made herself known not just to the party but to Cascadia as a whole. Through an army of servile robots speaking in her voice across Portland and beyond, she expressed a strange form of disappointment with the way the people of Portland were progressing. She claims to have awoken in order to "teach them a lesson they seem to have forgotten", and alluded to some kind of retribution to come. Ever since then a ceaseless blizzard has raged across Portland, lending credence to the superstitions of the locals of the protector spirits and vengeful weather gods.
