Pinewood

The town of Pinewood (or Crab Town as it was in the process of being renamed before its untimely demise) was a fishing settlement built around the flooded remains of the Pinewood Amusement Park.   The park's proximity to the banks of the swollen Wilamette River made it a hotspot for aquatic activity, specifically as a breeding ground for freshwater Mirelurks. At some indeterminable point a group of Locals decided to settle in the old park, around the idea that the crab population could be rounded up and controlled as a stable source of food. They were successful for a time, and a prosperous little town began to grow around the enclosed roller rink where the mirelurk population was confined and farmed. Their meat was plentiful, palatable, and above all stable. So stable in fact that some entrepreneurial sorts even managed to bridge the roller rink with the nearby go-kart attraction, where travelers and merchants could pay to climb into a reinforced car and run down their choice of crab for a bit of sport.   Unfortunately the success would not last. It's unclear when it happened, but at some point the settlement would go dark. Caravans to Pinewood would never return, or come back with reports of a ghost town. It wasn't until the party spent an ill-fated night at the old amusement park that they learned the truth: A Mirelurk Kaiser had taken up residence in the roller rink, breaking its kin out of confinement in the process and unleashing them upon the residents.
