Boss and Lore: Deacons of the Holy Empire and Bishop Maltheus

After Tsar Klaudius announced his permeant stay in Russia, He ordered the head of his church and most trusted man, Bishop Maltheus, to return too the cathedral with the high priests to continue their work. In time however, those dedicated to sealing away the horrors of the Land of Ash from those who lived within it, slowly succumbed to it as well. It would have appeared that faith wasn't on their side, though many question of it wasn't Klaudius' intention to send his friend off to die. . .

Lore

Following his victory over Chernobyl, the Tsar, in supposed celebration, presented gift's to those closest to him, as a way to show them worthy of the Kings grace and audience, as also a way to prove their loyalty. These gifts, supposedly various spoils from Chernobyl itself, were presented to his trusted General, his Executioner, and surprisingly his Priest.   Bishop Maltheus was a Russian Orthodox bishop who was noted to have a very close relationship with Tsar Klaudius. A close ally of the Russian leader, him and his congregation were noted to be one of Tsar's most devoted followers, with Maltheus' relationship stemming back to when the young Tsar was married to the previous Tsarina of Russia before his take over of the throne following her death.   During the early days of Chernobyl's take over, Maltheus and Klaudius formed a very seemingly tight relationship, with Klaudius commissioning the locals to build Maltheus a grand cathedral in exchange for Maltheus' services, as well as presenting him with the finest of attire. While the exact nature of their deal was unknown to many, in the years that followed the construction of the church, Maltheus and his congregation garnered a large following in the form of an almost sect like group which became widespread among the people of the city Pripyat, who had only recently begun to make the pilgrimage back to the once famous ghost city once the War of Succession had ended and Russia had fully taken over.

Boss 1: Deacons of the Holy Empire

Devoting themselves to Bishop Maltheus and Tsar Klaudius, the deacons act as both priests and warriors for The Church of the Divine Unity, the religious sect founded within Pripyat and the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. While not necessarily a boss, Boss variations of these enemies do appear throughout the game, each one similar to next, but each defined by their own characteristics. Despite their frail appearance, the Deacons are not to be trifled with.
