Session 8: The Hack
General Summary
The session began with Fisto and Kutter sailing north after being contacted by Benjamin, trying to meet up with the other players. They sailed towards the mouth of the Charles River, where they encountered another odd boat, an antique sailing ship. They saw Kenny and Jason on deck and hopped aboard, thanking Roger Warwick for the ride. The group sailed up the Charles River to the far edge of Boston, where they met Tony. There, they released the scientists to his men, and Tony conferred with the players. He said he did some looking into Kenny and knew he was enemies with Victor Hawthorne, offering an alliance. He appreciated Kenny and Jason coming through for him on the job with the scientists. Tony, born and raised in Diamond City despite being part of the mob, expressed his desire to see Hawthorne gone. Sensing that the players had something in the works, he asked for a heads up and assured them he had their backs.
The players said their goodbyes to the Institute scientists, and Kenny spoke to the calm and collected Allie Fillmore about some of his crazy experiences. Seemingly unprompted, she took a blood test and then asked Kenny for his help in an ongoing study. When he agreed, she assigned RM-47 to monitor and protect him during the trial.
The group set off to Grey Garden, just upriver, where they said their goodbyes to The Pioneers. Kenny once again gave his condolences to May about what happened to Johnny and told Johnny they were still on for a duel when he recovered. The group headed uphill to Grey Garden proper, where they saw explosions and laser fire emanating from the overpass above the town. They investigated and found the robotics class, where dozens of college kids were pitting their combat robots against each other. Kutter immediately tried to join in but was pulled down by the students.
In the workshop, Kenny, Fisto, and Jason observed the robot parts, finding a new pair of less curvy legs for Fisto. Suddenly, the strange husband of the Assaultron burst in looking for his wife's legs. Kenny quickly hid Fisto. Fisto attached the new legs as the man was chased off by the students, who had apparently dealt with him before. However, he managed to steal his wife's legs now that they were detached from Fisto. They met Benjamin, who was renting out a room after being fired from the National Laboratory. He told them the plan: the players would infiltrate the Logistics Corps's HQ and upload a program to purge the virus from ADA's mainframe.
The players moved in with RM and Jamison in tow. Kenny, Fisto, and Jason infiltrated while Kutter, RM, and Jamison kept watch. The players sneaked through the bottom floor and convinced any staff they encountered not to turn them in until they reached ADA. After failing to talk her down, she attacked with dual miniguns dropping from the ceiling. RM, Kutter, and Jamison burst in through the second-story wall, buying the party just enough time to wipe the virus from the system. As ADA reset, she thanked the players and gave them the data showing the virus being uploaded and the Red Tide's supply siphoning, the evidence they need to take down The Red Tide with Natlie Wright.
