Session 27.5: The Slammer

General Summary

The session began with Kutter coming to in a cell, finding his hands and legs not cuffed but bolted together. An interrogator and two guards in power armor escorted him to an interrogation room where he was unsuccessfully questioned. He remained consistently belligerent, passive-aggressive, and evasive. Eventually, he asked for his lawyer, Alexander Wolfe. Hours later, Wolfe arrived. Together, they began to develop a plan for Kutter to infiltrate the 1st Vanguard, who were also imprisoned by the CFR, by playing the role of a turncoat. Inside the prison, Alexander convinced him to get the CFR in on the plan to make things easier, and Kutter agreed. Alexander informed Kutter that Jason absolutely required him for Liberators' business in two days. They added to the plan for Kutter to get thrown into solitary to get sprung inconspicuously to attend the meeting.
Kutter was wheeled into an aircraft, blindfolded, taken in circles to inhibit his sense of direction, and then flown to a maximum lockup facility using vault components that seemed suspiciously new, where he was put in an individual cell. From this cell, he was able to speak to the other super mutant prisoners held there, the 1st Vanguard. They spoke briefly and decided to save the conversation for breakfast. Kutter, having slept maybe five hours in the past two days despite his incredible injury, realized how tired he was and slept through the night, being awoken by guards who gave him a jumpsuit and a brief, then left. The heavy hydraulic cell doors opened, and the mutants were guided down the hallway under the watchful eye of automated autocannon turrets, giving Kutter pause as he flashed back to what had just happened to poor Chokehold. He steeled himself and went to the cafeteria.
When he arrived, he sat with Jamison and began trying to ingratiate himself with him, regaling him with how he went to stop the cure project. Jamison was impressed but not ecstatic. Kutter inquired about Hercules, and Jamison decided to tell him the whole story. He told Kutter about the 1st Vanguard and Hercules, how they were originally one unit that received the FEV Serum. They survived the war and became wandering soldiers, recruiting like-minded super mutants and trying to uphold their army's values through the turbulence of the wasteland. However, the harshness of the wasteland and the cycles of rise and fall twisted their values. Watching the folly of short-lived humans, they began to patronize them, guiding them out of twisted benevolence by any means necessary, becoming peacemakers and oppressors. This too devolved further into violence for survival, for selfishness, and in Hercules’s case, violence and combat for its own sake. Jamison said Hercules had become fanatical ever since they’d been hired by their most recent client, whom Jamison claimed Hercules revered.
Kutter, seeing that Jamison and his men might be unexpected allies, decided to confide in him, telling him he wanted to find Hercules and learn from him, gaining intel on the enemy and his martial wisdom. He hoped he could turn Hercules off this path. Jamison agreed to keep this from his men and to help Kutter. He asked how Kutter intended to get out, and Kutter informed him that the CFR would sneak him out under the cover of solitary confinement. Jamison and Kutter destroyed the library in a brutal fistfight, which was broken up by elite guards in X-01 armor covered in Tesla coils, who shocked Kutter into unconsciousness. He awoke in the middle of the woods wearing Chokehold's gear.
