Session 22: Life and Times of the Top G

General Summary

The session began with Gerrek returning to Vantage a few weeks after the rest of The Liberators. He had a few things to wrap up in Nuka World. Wanting to be charitable, he gave his sniper rifle to Vantage’s security team and checked in on the former members of the Pillars of the Community. After this, he met up with the rest of the gang upstairs. With everyone present, Jason decided it was time to take the cure. He injected it and spent the next few days in agony, expelling hundreds of pounds of body mass, carefully monitored by Blair. After three days, Jason emerged a new man, or rather, the old man, just as he was before the Great War. Jason wasn’t surprised to find he couldn't wield his greatsword anymore and decided to try his luck with a pistol.   Centurion called upon The Liberators, requesting they investigate a new strange investment firm that he believed was trying to commit some sort of financial sabotage with mysterious funds of no discernible source. Kenny called up Andy Bates, the leader of the G’s who he met on Spectacle Island. From there, Gerrek began appealing to Bates's sensibilities. With Kenny’s previous relationship and Gerrek's pandering, Bates happily invited them to see his operation. Blair, after learning of some of The Gs’ regressive sensibilities, requested to stay home for her own sanity. The players obliged and headed to Bunker Hill, where The G’s were based.   Upon entering the compound, they were greeted by an exhausted secretary whose desk was also an elliptical. They made him drink some water and then headed into the main room. They were greeted by a gym, a smoking room, and a stock exchange all in one. They made their way upstairs and met with Mr. Bates. They spoke with him in a nonsensical whirlwind of mogging, mewing, and macho babble, where Andy Bates probably asked for them to join his company and also cited a mysterious angel investor, declaring them real men. They asked to ponder this decision and left with Old Man Jenkins, who wished to speak with them.   In a private room, Jenkins told the players that Bates was indeed trying to wreck the CFR economy but was doing a terrible job of it. He was investing massive amounts of caps into arms manufacturers, thinking it would cause them harm, but it really just boosted their output. Jenkins offered the players a deal: Jenkins would keep whispering in Bates's ear to ensure he kept boosting the economy, and the players would make this happen by beating the shit out of Bates, earning his undying respect, probably. The players wanted to possibly funnel more money into their own businesses, but Jenkins countered by saying investing in arms manufacturers would do the most good with the amount of caps they could pump into the economy. The players agreed to his plan and went to Bates's office, mogged him, and then beat the shit out of him.   However, the G’s were alerted to their leader's distress and moved into the office in his defense. The players defeated all of them, and Kutter turned the super mutants to his side. However, the last G standing convinced the players to let him inject Bates with a serum, which caused him to turn into a Super Mutant Behemoth in seconds. The players faced down the heinously mutated shambling mess and almost died in the effort. They were forced to call in an airstrike. Before they could even confirm the area was clear, Leroy convinced Centurion it was and then called in the strike. The players sprang across the roof or jumped out the windows, narrowly dodging the explosion.   They picked through the ruins, finding Bates’s hand and hand cannon, but they saw another Sentient Glowing One wreathed in the same black cloak as usual, observing them from the roof tops. They quickly left the town because Kenny and Gerrek were wanted. They met Blair and debriefed her on the situation. Jason lamented the loss of the business, but the players headed home.
