Session 20: The Cure Conspiracy
General Summary
The session began with the players heading north to investigate the lead that Paul found. Nick Valentine, Director of The Department of Investigations, approached them and helped uncover the man sabotaging the cure project: Senator Collins, a super mutant senator. When confronted, Collins explained that if there were a cure going around, there could be a mandate for mutants to be cured. He feared old prejudices would rise again, and even though it meant mutants who wanted the cure wouldn't receive it, he was stopping the project to protect his people.
Jason was dismayed. Though he thought his path was righteous, he now had no idea what to do. He broke the desk in half and left the senator's office. Blair went to comfort him. The senator gave a vial to the remaining party, saying it was a cure for Jason if he wanted it. The players left and found a sleepy cafe to decompress in. Jason was still conflicted, but eventually, the party had the idea to blackmail the senator to restart the cure project using Publick Occurrences to spread the expose if needed. They planned to force the cure project to go through and then steal the cure to distribute it themselves, preventing any sort of mandate while giving the cure to those who wanted it.
Set in their plan, they went south to Diamond City and filled in Natalie Wright. She agreed to help them if she got the scoop on their other adventures. They agreed, and the plan was set. When they returned home after a few days, they found 30 young men and women had signed on with the Liberators, inspired by the stories printed by Natalie.
