Purpose / Function
The Enclave dispatched two squads to this location a year before their assault on the brotherhood of steel in 2287. Hidden below a national guard armory the bunker acts as a forward operating base for the Enclave forces within the region. The primary objective of the forces stationed within the bunker is to find and collect pre-war technology as well as specimen samples from highly irradiated or potentially radioactive creatures. Dispatched in teams of four power armor clad troopers the men garrisoned here have earned the nickname "Ghoul Hunters" by the settlers of the Reading area.
Alterations
While the surface level structure has been left untouched as to aid in the cover of the actual bunker, the interior of the bunker has been outfitted with Enclave radar equipment including several advanced decimeters and radioactivity receivers. Enclave engineers have also expanded the original structure of the bunker to better suit the needs of the men stationed there.
Defenses
The bunker is garrisoned by two recon squads led by their sergeant, in addition to this one ranger squad is also stationed here to ensure that the bunker's objective is carried out. These rangers have earned the nickname Ghoul Hunters due to their mission. The bunker is locked behind a hidden set of mag-locked blast doors which seal the bunker off from the outer wasteland. The decontamination chamber is defended by twin laser turrets which can quickly kill any unauthorized trespassers that manage to open the main hatch.
Another sealed blast door separates the entry chamber from the main floor of the bunker, once inside the bunker sprawls out to several different rooms filled with advanced radar and radiation sensing equipment. Additionally, the surveillance system for the bunker is housed on this floor. The whole floor is protected by additional laser turrets and even an assaultron.
A stairwell leads down to the next level, which is no more than five rooms. These rooms are connected by a main causeway at their center and act as the main barracks and weapon storage rooms for the men garrisoned within the bunker. The fifth room of the floor is an offshoot of the main armory, it houses the power armor for the rangers. A blast door at the far end of the floor opens to another flight of stairs that delves down to the final level of the bunker.
This level of the bunker houses the main infrastructure of the bunker such as its fusion reactor and its water pump systems. A section of this floor appears far cleaner and more advanced than the rest of the bunker, smooth white walls lead to a sealed door locked with a computer terminal that is unlike anything you have ever seen. Behind the door is a room that is filled with strange terminals and pods that are covered in frost, inside the pods appears to be frozen bodies.
History
Fort Pierce was originally a US National Guard Army during the pre-war period. During the Great War it served as a communications relay for Hoover Station to bounce its signal off of, when the bombs began to hit the outskirts of Reading, all personnel within the armory were ordered to retreat to fallout bunker to the north of the city. Many ignored this order and continued to relay the Hoover Station signal until they succumbed to the radiation of the bombs.
The Enclave discovered the location of the bunker early into their occupation of the KOP Wasteland and began to occupy it in the summer of 2286. Working quickly, they outfitted the bunker with everything they would need to launch a surprise attack against the brotherhood forces stationed within the Reading area.
