Lost Thaylos

In the days of the great Helios Empire a sect within the priesthood decided to bring forth new lifeforms in the image of their gods. Working with magi, unbeknownst sorcerers and vivimancers they brought forth a plethora of anthropomorphic beings. Felines, canines, ungulates, reptiles, avians, and insects were all engendered. It was a failure.   Some of the gods were pleased, others were not. They fought in the heavens above. The unbeknownst sorcerers serving powers that sought to become deities corrupted the work. Of course vivimancers generally thought to be insane played their part as well. The war the was fought ended the Helios Empire leaving shattered cities and ruins. One such being Thaylos.
The new beings were called beast men. They took after their animal progenitors, fighting amongst themselves and preying on each other. Mostly the beast men are anthropomorphic combining human and a singular animal, others are like centaurs, some even with portions of their bodies a hybrid of animal and man parts. Fewer still combined parts of multiple animals, these becoming known as the lamia.   The lamia have the upper bodies of humans, and the lower parts of at least two animals. Some three or rarely four. The more variety of animal the greater status they have in Thaylos they city they have made their own.
Thaylos ruled by the lamia, soldiered by the more carnivorous beast man stock, mostly canine and scavenger stock. They control the few oasis in their region and raid in search of plunder and slaves. Most particularly human slaves, for as they were created with human blood, they can only breed with themselves and humans. The other races if skilled work, if not they are consumed.   The highest ranking lamia have formed a cabal of priests and magi which rule over the others. They write the laws, such as they are, of their society and enforce them as they see fit. They have personal harems of the most attractive humans they can find and amuse themselves watching the other races including non-aligned beast men fight to the death in gladiatorial death matches. If ever one finds ones self to be in Thaylos avoid their temple palace at all costs.
