Planet Seeders

The profession of Planet Seeders is considered generational and key to the Green Mage Society's mission of spreading life.  A team of three Planet Seeders is sent out to look for planets that could possibly support life and start the first phase of terraforming.  Their secondary mission is to find planets with life and send a transmission of the location for teams to come to study them.  In some cases, they will study the planets themselves before continuing their trek.  
During the trek and Phase 1, they will study and do research to pass the time and prepare for future phases.  The ships they use are very unique.  They are actually grown and continue to grow during the trek and when they arrive at a planet they find suitable, it will start to grow to accommodate more people so that families can join or form on the ship during the terraforming Phases.  During the near-to-last phases, it will descend to the planet and provide more nutrients to the planet and the remaining Planet Seeders will establish a Gaia gate to travel back to other worlds that were seeded or established as Green Mage Society outposts.
Planet Seeders still check on these planets whether they were colonized or not to survey the planets to see if life is still thriving and to see what may have evolved over time.  Occasionally they will help new colonies settle and teach them about the planet's species.  There have been some misfortunes of the colonist being hostile and the Green Mages later coming back to find them wiped out by their own folly or thriving.  It is one of the many dangers of the profession.  Pirates, hostile aliens, and even the wildlife they seeded on the planet have claimed many Planet Seeders' lives, and some people have viewed them as a nuisance despite they are the only reason they are even able to live on that planet.  It can be viewed as a thankless job by a cynical person.  But they usually gain the pleasure of knowing that they have given life a chance to flourish throughout the universe and are praised by the others of the Green Mage Society who pursuit of spreading life and studying it is never ending.
