Ataraxian Desert

A land once known for its artistic expression and creative independence, Ataraxian Desert now exists under the informal rule of Tyra Thistle, the self-proclaimed "Earth CEO." Some fall for the allures of expansion and innovation, while others simply have no choice but to work along. This beautiful desert was once celebrated for its glass-blowers, shops that sold glass goods, and independent businesses. When Tyra entered the scene, she erected towering glass skyscrapers and shut down these ventures. Most fairies buzzed to her command, no longer able to support themselves. Ataraxian Desert now focuses on "progress." They push for (magical) technological advances, and work similar jobs. Uniformity and conformity are constants, from the attire to the mindset these fairies share. The ambiance is rather drab, and frankly, sad.

Environment

There is sand on all sides, with cacti and palm trees littered about.
The main wildlife includes camels, snakes, jackrabbits, reptiles, fennec foxes, etc.
The weather is hot and blistering year round.
Glass skyscrapers wrap around the large city in the center. It consists of streets, sidewalks, and towering buildings. Everything is uniform.

Culture

Ataraxian Desert used to have a very artistic culture focused on the trade of artwork. This commonly included glass blowing, pottery, sculptures, and using the natural resources around them. All was very vibrant. Art and music festivals were held to nurture the creativity of the land.
Because of the new air of capitalism, this culture is now dead. Things have become very monotonous and conformative. Fairies flutter about in plain ol' suits, exhausted from their 9-5 shifts.
