Duergar Pouchers
An adventure for 11th Level Characters
Overview
A band of duergar has recently started roaming Neverwinter Wood, killing any animal they can get their hands on. A local ranger named Kilé (LN female Tethyrian human scout) has seen the remains of pregnant deer, young pigs, and most recently, a unicorn. When she confronted the duergar, they shot at her, but she managed to escape and traveled to the nearby settlement of Helm's Hold to find adventurers at the Venturer's Rest inn. If characters talk to her, Kilé explains the situation. She helps upholds the order in Neverwinter Wood, and these poachers have upset the local wood elf population. If the duergar continue, the elves will seek retribution against whoever comes before their bows. Kilé hasn’t found the duergar hideout yet, but with the characters’ help, she feels comfortable seeking them out.Background
The duergar poachers operate a small surface slaver camp. They work with different mercenaries who capture the locals, which the duergar buy for a good price. The slaver camp is located in an abandoned diamond mine, hidden deep within Neverwinter Wood. A tunnel connects the camp to the Underdark, through which the duergar funnel their slaves.Finding the Camp
With Kilé’s help, the characters find tracks from the duergar at the site of a recent kill. Find the camp from there is easy, and the characters and Kilé can follow the tracks all the way to the camp.
