And that the river of lava that runs through the town is regularly used to dispose of people who snoop around.
Originally named Pony Fjord, after a local legend, this village was slaughtered by Richard and its inhabitants raised as intelligent undead. He did this using a relic known as Horror's Hand. The hand of a powerful necromancer that allows the user to turn undead they raise into intelligent undead.
The village has had success under the rulership of Richard. His effective, if bazar, rule has greatly helped the town. He recolonized the populous into efficient jobs, did away with the agricultural industry as undead do not need to eat, and did some questionable redecoration. A river of lava was added in the center of town supplied by the nearby hotsprings. Two mansions were clamed by Richard with both renovated to suit his tastes, as well as adding a large throne in the center of town for him.
The entire town is contained under a Illusory Terrain spell made to resemble a normal non-evil town. The populous are all 1st level wizards with Disguise Self prepared and ready to cast. The town watch are prepared to eliminate all people who have found their secret. But most deviously the bakers have poisoned cupcakes to give to guests.
The town residents, called the Lifeless, are your standard Faerûn mishmash of people and races. Mostly human with a few elves, dwarves, half elves and Miscellaneous added for good measure. They are a good hard working people who want the best for their village. They do not like outsiders, not for being outsiders, but for the fact that if word gets out about their state adventurerswill not be far behind.
