Session 12: The Vistani

General Summary

After securing Doru in the Endless Paths, Dameion and Saphira checked on Bastion’s dusk elf refugees, learning from their leader that a ghost at the ruins of Durst Manor was unsettling his people. Investigating, they found the ghost of Lord Durst seated on a stump. Grateful for the party’s role in freeing his children’s spirits, Lord Durst offered to oversee Bastion’s rebuilding as penance, carrying out the party’s will during their adventures. They accepted, directing him to prioritize food production to support incoming refugees from Barovia.
Returning via the Return Stone, Dameion and Saphira joined the party at the Church of the Morning Lord for Kolyan’s burial. Father Donavich, his faith bolstered, conducted the rites. Ismark parted ways to manage Barovia’s evacuation and defense, while Ireena led the entire party to the Vistani camp at Tser Pool to meet Madam Eva, who could guide them toward artifacts needed to defeat Strahd.
At the camp, Madam Eva was wary, suspecting hidden listeners. She instructed the party to meet her alone at midnight by the gallows at the River Ivlis crossroads, emphasizing they must not be followed. As they departed, a man named Arturi accosted them, wielding a crossbow and mistaking Dameion for Van Richten. The party defused the situation, convincing Arturi of his mistake. He revealed a curse from Van Richten that summoned undead to torment him nightly, hinting at the hunter’s shadowy influence.
Later, the party met Kira, a mute girl carrying numerous knives. Through yes-or-no questions and sketches, they learned she had fled an abusive “parent” and worked at an inn where she befriended Dorian’s sister, Littles. Kira’s drawings indicated Littles was in danger, hunted by a white dragonborn. Having come to the camp seeking clues about Littles’ whereabouts, Kira’s cryptic warnings left Dorian concerned for his sister.
