Episode Twenty Two Recap

Our adventurers are enjoying a long respite in Luskan, the infamous City of Sails. Zirkin slips away to Waterdeep using new magic he has learned to use, and uses this opportunity for research, resupply and rest. The rest of the party rests and resupplies in the city of Luskan, enjoying the first real rest they've gotten since their adventure began last year/one month from now in this very city.   After the party is set up for the next long haul of adventure, they decide to once again use magic to travel back to the Kingdom of Cormyr. They find themselves along the familiar road from Suzail to Arabel. They travel south toward the Royal City of Suzail, with the hopes of meeting with the Queen of Cormyr, and ultimately finding the lost piece to the Hammer of Tyr that is reportedly somewhere in the Kingdom.   They stop for food and supplies in the small hamlet of Hilp, a small settlement surrounded by farmland and grazing pastures. The town is on the north end of where the Starwater River and Calantar's Way road meet, just on the edge of the King's Forest. Another main road, the Way of the Manticore ends here, running east from Hilp to the town of Wheloon, and beyond into the neighboring lands. Looking for some hot food, they encounter an out-of-place group of Thayans, apparently a few rogues and at least one Red Wizard of Thay. They are parked outside The Royal Fox-the only inn/tavern in Hilp, with a cart full of exotic looking barrels. Rapid Shadow has a brief conversation with one of the rogues inside the tavern. He discovers the group is indeed from Thay, and they are searching for the legendary Crypt of Dragons. It is a vast subterranean tomb and shrine to the Dragon God Null. It is rumored to be somewhere within a day's travel of Hilp, and contains several mummified dragon corpses resting upon a horde of gold and gems.   The party slips away and begins their search for the Tomb with the help of Cairn's Commune spell.  His Deity, Helm guides them in the general direction of the Tomb, and they quickly begin their exploration.  With the additional help of a potion of treasure finding, the party discovers the hidden Tomb entrance.  It is well guarded by a few metallic dragon-like beings, with unnerving lion-like heads.  The enemies defeated, the party slips into the Tomb before the trailing Thayans can catch up to them, and the entrance is obscured by an Entangle spell from Noah.   The entrance to the tomb is guarded by a complex riddle, carved into a large runestone.  The chamber is also surrounded by four statues, each with swiveling heads and bowls carved into their hands.  The party slowly deciphers the riddle, and a door opens.  Behind the door lurks a group of trolls...battle ensues, and suddenly several wraith-like creatures appear, joining the fray.  Cairn again enlists the help of Helm, and wisely turns the undead.  Thinking himself successful, the party is quite literally stunned to discover some type of illusory effect has been used by the wraiths, and rather than retreating, they have charged forward and begun to attack the party.  Several members of the party become paralyzed from the effects of the wraiths, and while things begin to look bleak, the party is ultimately again victorious.  As the battle finishes several members of the party find themselves in a watery pool, attempting to finish off a troll.  They succeed, but suddenly feel a terrible burning in their throats....
