Basalisk Gate

The Basilisk Gate was a gate and local landmark in Baldur's Gate, situated in the outer city wall, that separated the Lower City district of Eastway from the Outer City district of Stonyeyes.   The gate acted as the eastern passageway in and out of the city along the Coast Way, which passed through the Outer City and eventually connected to the nation of Elturgard to the east, and the Lands of Intrigue to the south.

Description

Basilisk Gate was distinctive in that it was lined with a number of statues, particularly those of prominent deceased patriar. After an effigy of Entar Silvershield was placed above the gate, it became traditional to honor prominent Baldurians past and present in this manner. This practice continued until the late–15th century DR.   Within the gate were offices of the Flaming Fist, along with a few single-occupant prison cells.
