Storms
Mechanics
Rain - A downpour of rain makes everything wet. Lightning - There are lightning strikes periodically. Lighting will seek out metal and will try to make contact with taller objects. If the player is wearing metal and exposed, roll a d20 when lightning strikes, on a 18-20 the lightning strikes the player dealing 2d10 lightning damage and catching any flammable objects on fire.Ship Mechanics
Wet surfaces add +2 to most checks, wave surges add +5. Storms are ran as combat, with things breaking and the ship needing to be kept under control. Movement - Standing or moving on deck during a wave surge requires a DC 15 Dex (Acrobatics) check, if a 5 or below is rolled and the player is near an edge, they fall overboard. Falling overboard gives a chance for a Dex saving throw to grab the ledged, otherwise you land in the water and must swim to catch the boat. Falling Overboard - If the player falls overboard and the ship is moving faster than them, there is very little chance they are able to recover and catch up. If the ship does not turn around or stop to allow the overboard crew to catch up, they will be stranded in the ocean. Sailing Checks - The DC for sailing in a storm is 10, it gets -2 for each mast damaged, -5 for a damaged helm, and -5 if all masts are damaged or for each mast that's broken. Sailing checks must be made to increase speed or change direction and for anything else applicable. The captain makes all sailing checks on their turn.Storm Events
The storm takes its own turns in initiative.- Lightning strikes the ship or a player
