Rhokeion Archos
Rhokeion Archos
Rhokeion is man from the nation of Halruaa - a successor state to the fallen empire of Netheril located far to the south of the Sword Coast founded by refugees of the collapsing empire nearly 2000 years ago. Much as it was during the time of the Empire, the citizens of Halruaa are incredibly versed in the arcane Art when compared to the average populace of Torillian cities. Rhokeion is no such man. Never finding himself very skilled in the practices of pouring through old tomes in tower libraries and reciting spells under supervision of the Elders' instructors, Rhokeion forsook traditional education in favor of working aboard his family's skyship, Spellwind. Working aboard since the age of 16, he has spent significant time travelling between Halruaa and its distant trading partners of Lantan and Thay, throughout the years ocassionally taking over for his grandfather at the helm. Rhokeion's life took an unexpected turn one day five years in the past. While aboard Spellwind, the entire crew was stricken by some sort of illusion and placed into a dreamscape where they lived out their ideal lives. About an hour later, the crew awoke with the ship drifting about over Chult. Rhokeion, however, found himself suddenly able to control some long-latent magic in his blood when he awoke, suddenly seeing the magical elements of the skyship and its cargo shimmering with magical energy and hearing whispers of his ancestors in his body. Since gaining these powers, Rhokeion has sought to gain a greater control over this ability and to learn what connection it holds to his ancestors.
After returning to the family villa in Halarahh following this event, Rhokeion did something very out of the ordinary and decided to go read a book - his family records and lineage documents - in an effort to learn more about his innate connection to magic. Much had been lost to time, but the records stated that the Archos family had come to the nation of Halruaa in the early -2nd century DR from what would become the nation of Hastarl to the north along the Sword Coast. As Netherese citizens who had fled an unstated Netherese Enclave, they had lived there for a few generations before a divide formed amidst the members of the family regarding its future. While one branch of the family chose to stay in the Sword Coast, another had travelled south after hearing of the burgeoning nation of Halruaa to join its fellow Netherese there and forge a new nation of their own. Rhokeion knew not what to take away from this regarding his newfound abilities and swore to himself that he would discover more.
Unknown to Rhokeion, his family, and their records, however, is that they are the last living scions of the Arcanist King of Nebelchuzad - Menilaerus Archos. Eons ago, he had forseen the downfall of the Netherese and its consequences and created a contingency plan - not only to preserve the Weave in its present, more powerful state, but to also use said fragment of the Weave to permanently level the playing field between gods and mortals, doing what his contemporary Karsus could not. Menilaerus' plan required an accomplice in the living world to bring about his eventual return so, to ensure a loyal follower to execute his will, he imbued his descendants living in Nebelchuzad with a portion of his magical powers and teleported them to the Sword Coast prior to transmuting the remaining living souls, alongside his own soul and the city's Mythallar, into the fragment of the weave where he would reside until a suitable descendant of his had acquired all of the necessary magical components he required as part of his plan. Such a descendant would be born in the following century, and thus Menilaerus focused his efforts from beyond onto the man Nesyrus Archos, his gaze shifting away from the remaining Archoses even before Rhokeion's branch travelled to Halruaa. By the time Rhokeion was born, Menilaerus had long since lost interest in his remaining descendants, yet his touch upon their bloodline remained.
In present days, the Archos family has encountered newfound difficulties in their trade ventures. After Thay abruptly ceased all communications with Halruaa in the months leading up to Rhokeion gaining his powers, it recommenced trade a few months later albeit in a state of near ruin. When Spellwind approached the nation's borders as part of a trade mission, it was turned away by several Red Wizards who seemed prepared for a magical showdown. Focusing their attention towards Lantan, the Archoses found a cold welcome from the gnomes who, while not outwardly hostile towards them, seemed incredibly distrustful of Rhokeion and his family members aboard the Spellwind. Opening their ventures to new ports of call in the Shining South, the Archos family has sought to expand their ventures to other cities and nations to make up for the lost trade from Thay and Lantan, but the comparatively small size of these cities has made it difficult. One day while aboard the Spellwind, Rhokeion had been showing off the Chultan Skink he'd purchased, named Ioulaum, and imbued with some of his magic in an effort to duplicate the familiars he had seen before when he and Ioulaum were suddenly teleported to a strange place far away.

Rhokeion is a sorcerer from the nation of Halruaa who never had much aptitude for the Art in the way it is traditionally practiced. A few years ago, he suddenly found himself able to use some latent magic in his blood.
