Navas Nautilus

Navas Nautalus

Centuries ago, we entered the world in response to the growing threat of evil elementals. We waged many wars against their enemies on the Plane of Water, driving them into the Darkened Depths where they escaped into the crushing pressure and utter darkness. In time, we noticed that our ancient elemental foes had grown quiet. Expeditions to the depths revealed that krakens, sahuagin, and far worse foes had fled the Plane of Water for the Material Plane and Faerun itself. Driven by our sense of duty and responsibility, we would not allow our foes to escape so easily.   A great conclave of Tritons chose volunteers skilled in weapons and magic as part of an expeditionary force to enter the Material Plane and seek out our enemies. We spread across Toril's oceans and established protectorates to watch over deep sea trenches, portals, undersea caves, and other locations where their enemies might lurk. That is how I found myself here in Faerun near the Moonshae isles, and though we defeated our foes when we found them and drove the rest into hiding. With their foes banished to the deepest reaches of the sea, we settled in to watch for any sign of their return. Over time, we have extended our stewardship over the sea floor from our initial settlements and we built outposts to create trade with other races. Despite this expansion, few folks know of us. Our settlements are so remote even merfolk and sea elves rarely encounter us.   Though, though our watch and our stewardship of the oceans and as of late our prophecies have begun to show signs of a threat that reaches beyond our waters and onto the lands and earths of Faerun. A dark cloud, powerful, and strong has been ever appearing. Our seers cannot help but worry as to what may lie in our future. I have come to Faerun in search of allies, for the people of the lands to unite behind our leadership and our power below the waves.   I personally have found my self here, oddly enough in the companionship of this brutish man Heimdall by accident. As you see his ship fell below the waves from the power of the gods who brought down a great storm upon him. I was below the waves making my way to Waterdeep in search of allies when I saw him sinking, oh so helpless below my waves. I decided to take it upon myself to save this poor being who could not survive the cold depths of the waters of the Moonshae Isles.   Once we arrived in Waterdeep his Uncle gave us passage and a job, though it was below me, I knew I must help this human as to gain favor with your species. In our travels we began to hear rumors, worrying and awe inspiring rumors of a longbow, named Halley’s Comet. This weapon is so powerful I knew I could not leave it in the hands of some monster or let it fall accidentally into the hands of a lesser being. So here you find us, beside this fire on our way north to Bryn Shander.
