Maragarth
Overlooking The Shambling Plains to the south, the silversheen lake to the west and the Aul'Daran river to the east, Maragarth was once a city rivaling any in the north. Never a beautiful city, Maragarth odd fusion of the ancient mudbrick desert inspired dwelling and more modern tutor construction give the city a hodge podge look that does have a strange alure about it. The city was one of the hardest hit during the Pale Wars not by the plagues but by the invading forces. in an effort to defent the city a group a mages and druid created a ritual to create a barrier much like the anti devil shield surrounding the free city of Kintaro. Although the ritual was successful in part, the barrier was limited. It trapped the devils inside the barrier that extended from the cities inner walls to it outer walls with small corridors safe for travel to the east, west and north along the old roads.
Demographics
Maragarth has a high percentage of infernal blooded people, more than most settlements outside of the Shekiac Empire. The cities central location and devil barrier mean a high number of crusaders also make their home within its walls.

Districts
Maragarth was once made up of 7 districts, the three central districts and the 4 outer ones. The four outer districts are now a devil infested ruin with only the ancient mudbrick building surviving, the inner three districts have morphed from their origional purposes and now the temple district is still home the the cities temples but also many traveller services such as inns, taverns and barracks. the High district once home to the nobility now includes most non trade housing, and finally the markets, although the have not changed much the now include many lower class houses made in a rough multi-level tutor style.
Guilds and Factions
The Aul'Daran Rangers home base is located in the eastern fort outside town and both the Crowns Guard and the Dawnbreakers maintain barracks and serve as town guard and protectors, the Nights Hand are active in town although their pressence is small and a number of crusader knightly orders call Maragarth home for short times.
