Deities & Elder Gods
Elder Gods
There are three elder gods, Ekho, Æsan, and Nārus. Although only widely worshipped in the first age, you will occasionally see small organised groups honouring the Mothers of Ezerus, clerics and paladins of the three are seen very few and far between.Ekho
Ekho created the lands; earth and stone, rivers and oceans.Æsan
Æsan created life; trees and plants, badgers and crows, elves and dwarves.Nārus
Nārus created magic and the idea of change, and in secret from the other two, she infused their creations with her own ambition. The earth suddenly felt the desire to move and create mountains and valleys. The rivers started to run and carve their way into the landscape. Oceans started making waves of all sizes. The most impactful change that Nārus brought upon Ezerus, was gifting mortals the ability to manipulate magic in the same way she could. so here the ambition of mortal spellcasters skyrocketed, now able to do whatever they set their minds to.Gods, Forces, and Philosophies
Most gods of Ezerus were once mortals who ascended to godhood, those that didn't ascend were instead born into godhood. The world is vast and wide, and thus there is not one single pantheon that rules supreme, instead, there are hundreds of deities grasping at the strands of power. The Curse of Godhood
Godhood is often seen as being the ultimate end goal. But this does not mean that it is without cost. Part of the eternal cost of ascension is that they are never able to walk the material plane again. Forever banished. This is why religions were originally set up, as a way of remembering and honouring those who are no longer able to walk amongst their closest friends and followers. Many deities offer their followers who worship them special boons and benefits such as spellcasting and the promise of going to the same plane as them in the afterlife.
