Rowen Tovedottir

Rowen Tovedottir, also known as Rowen of Whithand, is a human woman leading a rebellion group known as the The Wolven Storm. Her group has been leading a resistance against Queen Idylyth, the queen consort of Cruidia. Her organization helped her escape from the Queen's captivity, where they staged an attack on Idylyth's life. She was subsequently rescued, and introduced to the A-Team, who had been hired to help protect Idylyth, but became sympathetic to the rebel cause. She pledged her aid to the A-Team if they could help get Idylyth off the throne.    She is also the bastard daughter of the late King Aethulwulf. She resents her father for putting her mother in a difficult position, and took her mother's name as her surname instead.

Personal history

Rowen was born to a peasant woman in Whithand. Her mother, Tove, a stable-hand at the castle, had caught the eye of the late king of Cruidia, Aethulwulf the Ravager. While tending to the horses, Aethulwulf approached Rowen's mother disguised as a servant. He continued this façade until during one of their encounters, he forgot to remove his pendant that signaled his status as king. Mortified, and fearing retaliation from Queen Idylyth, Tove quickly severed the relationship and tried to keep her head down. Months after their final encounter, Tove realized she was pregnant. Rowen was born in the servants' quarters. Aethulwulf, upon hearing Tove had given birth, rushed down to see both of them, again donning his disguise. Tove begged him to leave her alone, for both her sake and her daughter. The king begrudgingly obliged.   When Rowen was four, Aethulwulf snuck down and gave her a small amulet, telling her to hide it from her mother. It was an heirloom passed down to heirs and heiresses. Unfortunately, Idylyth caught wind of what happened, and when she realized that Rowen was her husband's bastard child, she quietly hired an assassin to take care of the problem. Should Aethulwulf ever die, Rowen, being his blood, would take precedence to the throne over the queen. The assassin took pity on Tove and Rowen, instead managing to fake their killings and whisked them away to a small town on the border of Cruidia and Stonewyth.   Rowen and her mother spent their days dirt-poor in a small village on the Cruidian border. She quietly bent the knee alongside Tove to small-name nobles in the area as servants in exchange for poor housing and scraps. Years later, her mother came down with a fever and very quickly deteriorated. In the hours before her death, she confessed that she had lied about Rowen's father and revealed her true identity, the heiress to the Cruidian throne, and handed her the pendant that Aethulwulf had tried to give her years before. After she passed, Rowen made her way back to Whithand, where she quietly spent her time gathering information on the cold-hearted queen of the city. Close to her 20th birthday, King Aethulwulf passed. Idylyth stepped up and took the throne, as no one knew of Rowen's existence, and the two never conceived an heir together. Rowen started raising a small resistance in Whithand. Idylyth kept the people poor and hungry, while wearing them down in the salt flats outside the city to keep the gold flowing into her pockets. The populace resented her, but her powerful secret police kept everyone in line.
