Pyric Fiber Fabric
Pyric Fiber Fabric has been gaining popularity as a primary fabric. It is a natural plant based fabric. However the plant that the threads are made from is very hard to harvest because it grows in an extreme environment.
Origins
This fiber comes from the vine of the Pyric Berries. This plant grows along the edge of lava flows and around volcanic vents. Samples were collected and during tests the researchers discovered that the vines had long fibers that ran throughout the entire structure. More tests were run on the strenght of the fibers and their durability.
Once the researchers confirmed the fibers could hold up against a lot of stress, they began work on prototype fabrics. Tests on the fabric showed a heat resistance up to 700 degrees Celsius measurement, or 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit measurement. Recomended fabric thickness is 1mm or .03 inch. Thicker fabircs are recommended for use in most cases, for better safty margin.
Apperance and Texture
Pyric Fiber Fabric is a silky smooth fabric. It has a very light feel and is breathable keeping the wearer cool.
It has a slighty shiney look especially in direct light. That works well with its Dark ember red color.
Uses
Desert gear, one of the most common uses for this fabric is for desert gear, both cloths and tents.
Fireman's uniform, used for the outer layer of the uniform.
Vocanic Research, as protective clothing and for equipmint bags.
Welding and blacksmithing, clothing to protect against sparks.
Tests are being done to further cultivate the Pyric Berries vine so that this fabric can be more sustainably sourced and be more widley used.
