Geocompass

A combination compass and GPS. Geocompasses are used while traveling either for business or recreation. It is a staple item for anyone who loves camping and hiking, or traveling to new places.

While it usually works like a typical compass, it can be connected to local satellite navigation.

The geocompass is a small round object about the size of a human's palm. The geocompass case can be made out of all kinds of materials. The most common ones are made from wood with a simple iorn needle, and a crystal cover.

The internal workings are far more complicated then a plain compass. The basic parts are; the signal finder, the needle turner, display projector and the directional memory storage. When using it as a GPS you turn the dial on the bottom of the geocompass to connect the needle turner to the compass needle. This turns the needle to point in the direction you need to go, instead of tracking by the worlds magnetic field. Then turn the outer ring to set the coordinates. The coordinants are projected on to the cover. Once they are set flip the small switch by the dial and follow the needle's point.

The Geocompass can track the path you take to a destination and guide you back to it in the future or take you back to a fixed point. This function is avalible without need for satellite connection.

A Geocompass is included in all camping and survival kits. It is almost always the second item on any trip packing list, after a comunicater.

There is a shop in Corner Cabin where you can buy custom geocompasses. It has many selections for all styles. Prices very based on materials used.
