Homebrew: Sleeping in Armor

D&D typically permits characters to sleep in light armor, only penalizing those who rest while wearing medium or heavy armor. This homebrew rule rule instead makes it so anyone can attempt to sleep in their armor, with an increasing chance to be penalized for doing so depending on how cumbersome their armor is.
Characters are assume to remove their armor while sleeping unless they say otherwise, which can leave them vulnerable if they are attacked during their rest since donning armor may take a while. As such, players may opt to have their characters sleep in their armor. Should they do so, the character must make a Constitution Check with a DC equal to the AC their armor grants (ignoring enchantment bonuses). On success, the character resolves their res normally. On a failure, the character only recovers half the health they would from the rest. In addition, characters which fail the check by more than 5 points gain one level of Exhaustion.
Note: Due to the use of Variant Rule: Gritty Realism, characters are assumed to sleep during Short Rests.
