True Names

True Names are a complicated and rather contentious field of study. It is believed that all things, both living and otherwise, have a True Name that represents its true and pure form. Some call them Words of Creation.
Some claim that speaking the True Name of something gives you power over it, leading to some scholars arguing that the incantations required to cast spells utilise fragments of the True Names of things, though that seems to be impossible to prove.
It is also argued that all living beings have a True Name, though most do not know theirs and those that do keep it secret, to prevent others from using it to control them. How one learns their True Name remains a mystery.
