Tortles

Tortles are a species of turtle-like humanoids native to Exorsia. They are a single sex species with a large sturdy shell on their back that they can retract inside the shell to sleep or for natural protection.   Tortle are a very rare species, they are usually found near the sea, specifically in coastal cities and in the Kuai Archipelago. They can also be found as members of underwater communities.   Tortles tend to be slow moving, and have difficulty understanding urgency, preferring to take their time. They are also known to annually return to the place they hatched to meet up with their relatives and oversee the hatching of new Tortles.

Appearance:

Tortles resemble bipedal turtles with a large, heavy shell surrounding their torso and large clawed like hands connected by webbing that allow them to double as flippers. Tortle are also hairless, with rounded heads, flat feet and a small tail.   Scales: Tortle scales range from tones of green or brown.   Shell: Tortle shells are usually a leathery brown or tan colour, sometimes adorned with moss or algae.   Eyes: Tortle tend to have black or orange coloured eyes.

Maturity:

Tortle mature much faster than Humans, young tortles crawl for a few weeks after birth before learning to walk on two legs, and they reach adulthood around the age of 15.

Reproduction:

Tortle hatch from eggs. A Tortle can produce a cluster of up to 10 eggs once in their lifetime. These eggs are buried in the warm sand for 12 months before they hatch.
