The Theogony

Information regarding anything before the Silver Age is largely unknown, the only recorded history is a text known as the Theogony, written by and unknown author which is only preserved transcribed in the school textbook of a minor mage from the Age of Arcanum; Lord Galvan of Maran.

"At first Chaos came to be, and from Chaos came creation, bursting forth into the void, and so came to be known as the Primordials. First came Darkness, then came Fate, followed by Time and Magic. From Chaos came forth wide-bosomed Earth, the ever-sure foundation of all the deathless ones, and starry Heaven, equal to Earth, to cover on every side, and to be an ever-sure abiding-place for the blessed gods. Finally there came black Death and fair Life, both entwined in a winged embrace.
Alone were they not as from the energies of creation came forth beings of chaos and destruction, that of Air, that of Earth, that of Fire and that of Water. Here did the treacherous Earth join in battle against their siblings, set on the path for domination.
In great battle did the Heavens fall as so did Death lay wounded, forced to flee by aid of Life to the realms of Death. Here did the first love bloom and from the union came forth Day and Night, one to return light to the dark and one to give voice to the heavens.
With great loss Time brought order to chaos and so came it to be contained in the new realms of Air, of Earth, of Fire and of Water. In their divine wisdom Time did mould sentinels over these new realms, and so came Sky of the Air, Hades of the Earth, Sea of the Water, and to rule Fire did stand the new Light. But the Earth was not quiet and by gift of Death did Hades take charge over the realms of Death.
But there would be no peace in creation, from the realms of chaos came forth the mighty maw of Destruction, the Foetid Corruption and the endless spawn of the Abyss. The Divine were not number enough to face such overwhelming number as of the infinite legions of Chaos. So did Time rise a legion of their own by bringing order to the fabric of chaos. And so came Ambition to lead the legions upon the field of Avernus, so did begin the unending war of blood. With numbers did the Divine rally to fling Corruption to the depths of the Abyss and imprison Destruction within the heart of chaos.
Thus, at last, order did come to be victorious over chaos and all of creation lay silent. Time did look down upon their creations and was not at peace, for the legions under Ambition did look back at Time with hubris. So with haste Time did create the army of the heavens, each to be loyal and to be fair. The true defenders of the divine.
Unnoticed for a time, behind Darkness and Night, came forth from the scattered remains of Heaven, the vast unknowingness of Aether.
Now began the age of gold, in who’s prosperity did birth Sun and Moon from Day and Night, and from Time did come Justice and Injustice, in perfect balance.
Beyond the sight of the Divine were the last energies of creation at work, pouring forth from the as yet hidden Material was the realm of Horace and in counterpart the realm of Darkness. Life did find joy in the vibrant plane of Horace and so with Death did they birth Nature and with her came her bountiful domain.
Finally did come the mortal race, from Justice and Injustice did come the race of the draconics and from within the realm of Horace came forth the spirits of the trees and plants, each with name and voice. and from these spirits came the first of the elven race. These new children were not of the gods and were born of chaos, this did concern the Divine as they feared another war. But Time did show mercy and taught them worship so they may learn to overcome their flaws. In reward for obedience did they receive the boon of Wisdom and of Love.
Then came forth more of the Divine, from union between Nature and Horace did come Spring, Winter and Summer, and from Dark and Night came Sleep, Dream and Retribution as well as the Rivers of the realms of death. Too came bloody War and from Sky and the broken Forge from Time. Love too bloomed between Hades and Spring, who did flee to the lands of death to hide from the scorn of Nature. There they did birth Trade.
The aeon of peace was not to last, from within her earthen prison Earth did plot her vengeance. Through union with Corruption did she birth the Titans and the Metamorphosis, the Hecatoncheires, The Cyclopses and finally the Giants. Earth’s greatest children were beasts of war and blood, with power enough to rival the Gods. And so did Earth wage her war. The Divine suffered great loss and were brought close to ruin, but the great general Wisdom did strike a bargain with the treacherous Titans and Hecatoncheires who were abandoned by their Earth. With a final push the Giants were defeated and Earth returned to her slumber.
Finally in the aftermath of war, was the Material revealed, and so began the Age of Silver."
