Magic Terminology

The following are a collection of Magical terminology and their definitions:

Abjurers. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Abjuration Magic.

Arcanist. A Spellcaster that practises Arcane Magic. Synonymous with Mage.

Archdruid. A powerful Druidic Spellcaster that is a leader of a Druid Grove.

Archmage. A powerful Arcane Spellcaster that has mastered at least one School of Magic.

Artificer. A Spellcaster that creates and enchants Magical Items, usually through the use of Arcane Magic. A practitioner of Artifice.

Bard. A Spellcaster that specialise in channelling Magic through use of the spoken word, commonly through song. A Bard is also an oral poet that recounts epic tales.

Chronomancer. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Chronomancy Magic.

Cleric. A Spellcaster that practises Divine Magic through the worship of a Divinity. Partially synonymous with Priest.

Conjurer. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Conjuration Magic.

Diviner. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Divination Magic.

Druid. A Spellcaster that practises Nature and Druidic Magic, usually drawing their Magic from the natural world.

Elementalist. A Spellcaster that practices Elemental Magic, usually conjuring or manipulating the elements of Air, Earth, Fire or Water. 

Enchanter. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Enchantment Magic.

Evoker. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Evocation Magic.

Exorscist. Someone who can talk to and banish Spirits and Ghosts. Sometimes synonymous with Medium, Spirit Talker and Spirit Channeler.

Graviturgist. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Graviturgy Magic.

Healer. A Spellcaster that specialises in the use of Healing Magic. Partially synonymous with Physician, Medic or Doctor.

Hemomancer. A Necromancer that specialises in Hemomancy Magic.

Illusionist. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Illusion Magic.

Mage. A Spellcaster that practises Arcane Magic. Synonymous with Arcanist.

Magician. Someone who performs tricks and slight of hand in a way that resembles Magic. as Usually as a performance.

Medium. Someone who can talk to spirits and ghosts. Synonymous with Spirit Talker and Spirit Channeler.

Necromancer. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Necromancy Magic.

Osteomancer. A Necromancer that specialises in Osteomancy Magic.

Paladin. A holy soldier that wields Divine Magic, often through either the worship of a Divinity or through swearing a Divine Oath.

Phantomancer. A Necromancer that specialises in Phantomancy Magic. Somewhat synonymous with Spirit Talkers, Mediums, or Spirit Channelers.

Priest. Someone who is devoted to a religious organisation, usually worshipping a Divinity, but does not necessarily practise Divine Magic.

Psion. Someone who practices Psionics.

Sarcomancer. A Necromancer that specialises in Sarcomancy Magic.

Sorcerer. A Spellcaster who is innately capable of casting Spells. Also commonly used as a synonym for Mage. 

Spellcaster. Someone who can cast Spells. A practitioner of Magic.

Summoner. A Spellcaster who that specialises in summoning creatures to serve or fight for them, often through the use of Conjuration Magic. Synonymous with Conjurer.

Transmuter. An Arcane Spellcaster that specialises in Transmutation Magic.

Warlock. A Spellcaster that was gifted their ability to cast Spell, often by a Patron. Warlock is also often used as an insult in academic circles. 

Witch. A Spellcaster that practices Witchcraft.

Wizard. A Spellcaster that studies and practices Arcane Magic. Somewhat synonymous with Mage.
