Ikan

Ikan was the capital of the Ikathos Dynasty, considered to be the most powerful Magocracy in the final years of the Age of Arcanum. Ikan was a floating city located in modern day Terrasmus, with the Ikathos Dynasty spanning into modern day Osirin and Elderan.
Ikan was a brutal and authoritarian Empire that used its vast magical power to conquer and destroy all that stood in its way. At the height of its power Ikan was ruled by the Dictator God-King Xerxes, who is said to have been a cruel and egotistical human, driven by a lust for power. Accounts from the time claim that Xerxes drained the life force from his subjects to extend his own life.
In 113 BF the Ikathos Dynasty began a violent campaign across Exorsia, conquering and wiping out all nearby civilisations, setting themselves as the dominant empire in Arcanum. It is said that once all of Exorsia was under their control their attention would turn to conquering the heavens. Rumours from the time speculated that God-King Xerxes had developed a spell that could kill or dominate a God. Modern scholars believe that the Ikan Conquest was one of the major deciding factors in the War of Arcanum.
Accounts of the War of Arcanum claim that Ikan was the first of the great floating cities to come under siege from the Armies of the Heavens. Ikan was subject to a brutal siege, its advanced magics lay waste to the wave after wave of Celestials, forcing the Gods themselves to deal the final blow, sending the city crashing into the plains below.
The destruction of the city was calamitous. The land of Terrasmus was left sacred, polluted by toxic radiation that seeped from the city's ruins. For many years thereafter Terrasmus was a hostile, lifeless wasteland.
In the modern day Terrasmus has recovered, the radiation has largely faded and life has returned to the area. Though the ruins of Ikan are still irradiated with magic, marked by a lifeless ring that surrounds the crash site, making it exceptionally deadly to explore. The locals avoid the area, but certain daring treasure hunters brave the ruins, and many do not return.
