Dassaran

Dassaran, or Dass’aran, was one of the major magocracies active during the final years of the Age of Arcanum. Dassaran was a floating city located in the west of modern day Osirin.
Dassaran was considered to be the home of the wisest and most intelligent people in Exorsia, developing magical advancements at a much faster rate than the rest of the world in its time. Dassaran is credited with creating the first of the floating cities and developing many of the powerful spells that are now lost to time.
Dassaran was a Geniocracy ruled by an authority known as the Collective. The Collective was said to be a union of minds, formed from the collective consciousness of all the past mages of Dassaran. Records claim that when a mage was close to the end of their life they would undergo a magical ritual that would separate their consciousness from their body, allowing it to join the Collective, killing the body in the process. The Collective contained all the knowledge of the consciousnesses within it, and is credited with Dassaran’s advancements in magic.
Even with its advanced magic, it was not enough to save Dassaran from the War of Arcanum. The city was completely obliterated, its remains sent scattering into the Dassaran Mountains below. The Collectives' vast knowledge, lost to time. Accounts of the Fall claim that Dassaran attempted to escape the conflict by teleporting away, but they were unsuccessful, destroyed before they could complete the spell.
In the modern day the remains of the great city of Dassaran lie all across the Dassaran Range in Osirin, buried beneath years of earth and debris. Archeologists are attempting to uncover the fragments of the city from within the mountains, though they have yet to discover anything monumental, with most of what they have discovered being far too small to be of any interest.
