Belial - Archduke of Phlegethos
Belial is the Archdevil of Lust and the Archduke of Phlegethos, the fourth layer of the Nine Hells, a position that he shares with his longtime consort Fierna. Belial is a confident and mesmerising devil, easily manipulating and dominating those who fell under his spell.
Belial is also a smart and shrewd politician, though he is best known for his insatiable hunger for physical pleasure and pain, famed for his exotic tastes and the debaucherous events held at his palace. He can commonly be found in the company of Succubi and Incubi, many of whom serve the Archdukes of Phlegethos.
Apperance
Belial is a masculine presenting humanoid, an incredibly handsome and tall figure with red skin, long black hair, smouldering eyes, long horns, bat-like wings and a long, thin tail. He is commonly dressed in regal, yet revealing garments, mixing displays of wealth, tight fitting leather and displays of skin.Belial & Fierna
Belial & Fierna are the only Archdevils able to share rulership over one of the layers of the Nine Hells, coming about under unique circumstances. Belial and Fierna were once rivals, locked in a constant battle for control of Phlegethos. Every year they would swap the title of Archduke between each other after falling to the others' schemes. After a few hundred years this conflict would turn their hatred of each other into feelings of respect and admiration, and then eventually feelings of adoration. This would lead to both Devils coming to a truce, confessing their feelings to each other and agreeing to try and share control over Phlegethos. This unofficial agreement led to many conflicts early on in their relationship as only one of them could be recognised as Archduke at the time, creating a very unhealthy power dynamic in the relationship. Eventually the couple pleaded with Asmodeus to help them, who, fed up with the constant paperwork that came from the annual leadership change of Phlegethos, agreed to make them both Archdukes and joint rulers of Phlegethos. This increased the number of Archdukes from eight to nine and reduced the number of Duke positions from twenty four to twenty three in the process, with the clause that if either Belial or Fierna were killed or demoted the positions would be referred. While the couple has had many ups and downs over the centuries, from violent disagreements to attempted murder, they still maintain a strong bond and joint control over Phlegethos, despite the many attempts of others to break them apart.
