The Radiant Assembly is the highest religious authority in Velancia, a body claiming direct succession from The Golden Covenant. Its members, known as the Celestial Hierarchs, believe they are divinely chosen to interpret the will of the Powers, guiding the faithful and shaping the spiritual landscape of the peninsula. The Assembly holds that their sacred duty is to preserve the ancient traditions of The Golden Covenant, considering themselves the rightful guardians of divine law and moral authority.
Despite its influence, the Radiant Assembly's power is largely spiritual, with its edicts often clashing with the autonomy of the independent city-states. Though they claim supreme authority, many foreign kingdoms and powers do not recognize the Assembly's claim, regarding it as a self-appointed title rather than a universally accepted rule. Still, within Velancia, the Assembly’s influence is undeniable, shaping not just religious practice, but political and cultural life through its sacred rites and teachings.
