Saltmarsh

Saltmarsh is a coastal town nestled amidst the rugged terrain of the eastern coast of Ashkrim. Surrounded by the Great Salt Marsh, the town's landscape is characterized by brackish waters, murky marshlands, and a perpetually overcast sky that casts a somber pall over the sprawling settlement.   The town itself is a labyrinthine network of narrow streets and alleys, lined with weathered buildings constructed from a mishmash of materials salvaged from the surrounding marshes. Crooked wooden structures lean precariously against one another, their faded facades adorned with peeling paint and weather-worn signs that creak mournfully in the sea breeze.   At the heart of Saltmarsh lies the bustling harbor, where fishing boats and merchant vessels jostle for space amidst the labyrinthine docks. The air is thick with the pungent scent of salt and seaweed, and the sound of seagulls echoes overhead as fishermen haul in their catches and sailors prepare for voyages into the unknown.   Overlooking the town from atop a nearby hill stands the imposing silhouette of Lord Harling's manor, a brooding presence that looms over the landscape like a dark omen. Its imposing walls and towering spires cast long shadows over the town below, a constant reminder of the ruling class's dominance over the common folk.   Despite its grim exterior, Saltmarsh is not without its charms. The streets are alive with the hustle and bustle of daily life, as merchants hawk their wares in the bustling market square and locals gather at Inns and Taverns such as The Brine which offers a modicum of comfort to weary travelers, its warm hearth a flickering beacon amidst the encroaching gloom.
"The scent of salt and fish clings to the air, the cries of gulls mingle with the shouts of sailors, and the tide never fails to bring something new to Saltmarsh."
