Orlane

Orlane is a small but prosperous farming village nestled between rolling fields and dense woodlands, where fertile soil and a nearby river provide abundant resources for its people. The town is primarily an agricultural hub, with wheat fields stretching to the horizon, grazing pastures dotted with sheep and cattle, and sprawling orchards producing apples, pears, and plums. A modest but steady trade flows through Orlane, as merchants from larger settlements visit to purchase its bountiful harvests.   The village itself consists of well-built stone and timber homes, their thatched roofs weathered by time but sturdy against the elements. The central square, where townsfolk gather for markets and communal events, hosts a large stone well, its waters clear and cold from underground springs.   Near the heart of Orlane lies the Golden Grain Inn, a favored gathering place for locals and travelers alike. The scent of fresh-baked bread and spiced stew fills the air, while the low murmur of conversation is occasionally broken by hearty laughter or the clink of mugs. A few other shops and businesses cater to the town's needs, including a blacksmith who keeps plows sharp and horseshoes sturdy, a general store that supplies farmers and tradesmen, and a leatherworker skilled in crafting saddles and harnesses.   Towering over the village square, the grand temple to The Covenant stands as a testament to faith and tradition, its high stone walls adorned with intricate carvings of divine parables and its bell tolling at dawn and dusk to call the faithful to prayer. On the outskirts of Orlane, the opulent manor of Lord Francis Laurent rises above sprawling vineyards, its sun-kissed vines yielding the finest wines in the region, a luxury enjoyed by nobles and merchants far beyond the village’s borders.   Beyond the town center, Orlane’s landscape shifts to dense woods and rolling hills, where skilled hunters and trappers ply their trade. A handful of outlying farms and cottages dot the countryside, some more isolated than others. The people of Orlane are hardworking and community-minded, always ready to lend a hand when needed.   Despite its peaceful appearance, Orlane is not without its troubles. Superstitions and whispered rumors sometimes pass between villagers, hinting at strange occurrences in the surrounding wilderness. Yet, for most, life continues as it always has—rooted in the land, guided by tradition, and bound by the shared toil of those who call Orlane home.
"A traveler may pass through Orlane in a day, but its beauty, its people, and its bounty linger in the mind long after."
