King Godric
Godric Aldwyn, known to history as The Oathkeeper, was the first High King of Aeritain and the founder of its enduring monarchy. In the chaos that followed the collapse of The Golden Empire, the Isle of Aeritain descended into lawlessness. Petty kings squabbled, warbands from Glenmorren burned their way south, and what remained of imperial order vanished into smoke. Amid the anarchy, Godric rose not through brutality, but through a rare and resolute integrity. He was a war-leader from Aldwyn with a gift for command and an unshakable code: a man whose word was worth more than gold.
Where others ruled with fear, Godric forged alliances through trust. He built Oathstones, monolithic stones where oaths were sworn in public, witnessed by the gods and sealed with blood. These became sacred symbols of unity. With a loyal host, he drove the Glenmorren clans back to their highland strongholds and brought the lowland lords to heel.
Crowned in Caerwyn, he ordered the founding of Kingsbridge on the River Edren, a city to unite the realm in stone as he had in spirit. Though he died before its completion, Godric’s legacy lived on in the kingdom he bound together, not with chains, but with honor.
“A crown means nothing if not worn with honor. Let my word be the weight that holds it firm.”
