Embershade Estate
Embershade Estate is among the most prominent and well-maintained plantations on Botany Bay, known not only for its fertile fields and valuable crops, particularly the fiery red Emberbloom, but also for its role as the Duke's primary residence in the region. With manicured lawns, sculpted hedgerows, and a grand estate house perched above the fields, Embershade stands apart from the other plantations in both elegance and scale.
The estate typically houses over 100 indentured workers, though the number fluctuates depending on the season and the flow of exiles sent by decree of the Reagant, Lord Athenry. Labor is performed by those working off sentences or debts, assigned to the estate through the colony’s system of indenture. Workers are housed in four barracks-style buildings, each accommodating between 20 to 40 individuals. Bunk beds, simple furnishings, and communal meals define life in the quarters, fostering a mix of hardship and camaraderie among the residents.
Labor is grueling, but one day of rest is permitted each week, typically Sunday. On that day, a Priest, sent by the local temples through donation arrangements, leads services on the estate grounds, though rarely is the same one seen week to week.
