Wayfarer's Web

Structure

Wayfarer

These are the pilgrims of Horizon Traveler. Expected to travel far and wide following the goddess's tenets and respect the organization's way if they use their services. The pilgrims must travel to Sun's Rest for it is the goddess's main temple and one of the few temples to have high priests.

Succor

Settled people who allow wayfarer's a place to sleep and eat for a night, or two. They are to only ask for stories from a wayfarer for payment as these people have a desire to travel, or hear a tale from afar. The succor might become a storyteller to a nearby village, because of this exchange. However, succors do not receive money from the other deities' temples, instead make their living in traditional occupations.

Adventurer

A wander that does not worship the Horizon Traveler. Adventures do not always get to board free as they can bring trouble to the area.

Assets

A story of your journeys for a good rest and hot meal seems fair
— succor
Network of buildings and homes serving any wayfarer, or adventurer, for an exchange of stories and experiences. The Succors are settled folk, who do not get to travel and hear only the words of the village. These stories are a way for the Succor to see the world, even if through another's eyes.   The Wayfarers consider their experiences of the world as wealth, however, their coin typically comes from the other temples and their skills. Keepers of Knowledge and Dark Mistress's clergy will pay for any information and insight of other lands these individuals can give. Wayfarer can offer their skills as a means to gain any coin they may need.
Player Feature: Surror's Rest. If a surror can be located, you can secure lodgings within a village, or town, in exchange for stories. The stay must be one night and can not be used more than once within a three week period.

Ethics

Explore

Four of the tenets reflect exploring's importance to the Wayfarers. Exploring the unexplored has many variations of practice; exploring local area that a wayfarer hasn't been, filling in blank areas of maps, or going to other planes/realms to gather information. If you encounter a fork in the road just take it, the tenet is debated for how to practice for some say travel less-trekked, while others say it states do not hesitate in taking a new destination.

Record

Enjoy the moments of the world, and only record then after. The Journey Book is to be used to remember these moments in the clearest and to carry them on to others. They valued their Journey Books so much they prayed for the goddess to give them a place in her temple.

Modest

Most of her followers have experienced being a wayfarer thus they possess little items and their stories are more important than material possessions. Wayfarer's journey is seen as never over even when they reach their death and they can not carry these items into the afterlife. The goal of her most devote is to reach the Third Compass, so they can travel beside the goddess in the afterlife.

Kindness

Help others wherever they travel and to seek it out when in need. When a wayfarer travels they are to leave the place in the same state, or improve it for the better. This behavior encourages a wayfarer not just to see, but to understand and respect a visited place's natural state, and know when to restore the natural state for it's future.

Taboo

A tattoo on the neck and possessing a compass in this location is consider heresy. These individuals are exiled after having all tattoos stripped from them. The placement of a compass on the neck is to compare to the goddess herself and to understand her ways, which can not be.

Worship

"Lead us forth to your horizon, direct us upon the path, cause us to reach our destination in life, joy and return us in peace.   If we are lost send us the Guide, lend aid our Keeper, halt your beasts Baron, save us from all troubles that rage and come."
— The prayer of a Wayfarer
The above prayer is prayed at the start of each morning, which reflects the beginning of a journey. The Horizon Traveler is believed to always be journeying, so the goddess grants her power from afar and asks the other deities to aid her followers in her stead. It is not known what the other deities receive from the goddess, however, her followers do gain their aid.

Journey Book

These recordings of a Wayfarer's journey is the prized possession of many wayfarers. It is believed a group of wayfarers prayed to the goddess to keep their books, even after they perish. They hoped for her to carry them with her, or give them a place in her temple. The goddess granted this, and many books can be found throughout the Sun's Rest temple. This act is considered to be another sign of their devotion for they have given their life, soul, and most prized possession to the goddess.

Priesthood

The journey begins when one leaves their own doorway to met the world's arms.
The first step to becoming a Wayfarer is to journey to a temple of the Horizon Traveler. Meet one in possession of the Second Compass to receive the 'Horizon Line'. The Horizon Line is a single, horizontal line placed on the back of the right hand; this marks the beginning of a Wayfarer's journey.   To become a priest of the goddess, they must complete the First Compass, Second Compass and received the Third Journey markings. Each line of the compass is a journey taken by the Wayfarer, when completed the markings are called Compass. These compasses are reflections of the goddess's neck tattoo, although a typical Wayfarer receives their marking on their hands till they begin the Third Journey. The Third Journey markings are placed below the collarbone of the individual and is the largest of the tattoos.
