Residuum is the residue of arcane energy, manifesting as a green dust that is useful in several magical applications.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Although not inherently magical, residuum is particularly receptive to arcane energies and therefore may be used to create objects that retain more powerful enchantments, perhaps for longer periods of time. It is used in the amplification of various forms of arcana. It can also be utilized to replace and act as other expensive materials and components for spells and other uses. Finally, it is one of two substances that can be refined into the drug suude, which can enhance spellcasting.
Raw residuum can be purified by heating into a dark green glass-like state; in this form it is referred to refined residuum and displays stronger magical properties.
It is rumoured that as part of their indoctrination and training process, Volstrucker have shards of residuum implanted into their bodies in order to enhance their magical abilities.

Origin & Source

During The Calamity, a tremendously violent battle on the continent of Tal'Dorei, between Pelor and Tharizdun, created a valley flanked by mountains of pure white stone, called the Alabaster Sierras, and infused the area with a huge amount of residuum. The whitestone mines, therefore, are the world's primary source of the ore needed to refine residuum.
