Session 5: Monsters in the Mines and Espionage in Nogvurot
General Summary
Geralt Daturai , Yinra Emberwind , and Ako Stonemasher Dottatua set out from Nogvurot towards the mines north of the city, where they aimed to confront the menacing creature responsible for the workers' disappearances. The mines were a mere hour or two away.
Before their departure, Geralt noticed a suspicious figure in black attire lurking in a corner. Curiosity piqued, he approached the enigmatic woman, Telva Cornwrath , who identified herself as a spy working for the Augen Trust. She offered a lucrative sum of 4000 Gold to infiltrate the Righteous Brand and unveil which soldiers were accepting bribes from the Tribes of Shadycreek Run . Geralt and Yinra agreed to take on this task, with the help of Kylao Bendelroot , with plans to execute it after completing their mission in the mines. As they ventured towards the mines, they encountered two fleeing workers, engaged in a heated debate about the origin of the monster—one believed it emerged from underground, while the other argued it came from the mine's sealing. The trio proceeded cautiously, entering the mines with stealth and vigilance. Amidst the labyrinthine passages and mining equipment, they stumbled upon a peculiar sight—a building with a collapsed sidewall, revealing a hole that descended over 50 feet deep. Their investigation was interrupted by strange noises from below, and suddenly, a colossal, centipede-like monster emerged from the hole. Just moments later, a giant spider attacked them from above, vanishing mysteriously after the assault. After dispatching these threats, they found themselves besieged by an onslaught of monsters crawling from the pit's depths. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Geralt decided to employ explosives he had acquired from Stahlmast's lair to seal the hole. With the breach sealed, they eradicated the remaining monsters and made their way back to Nogvurot to claim their bounty. Upon returning, they decided to part ways with Ako, deeming him unsuitable for the upcoming espionage mission due to his size and presence. Geralt and Yinra then set out to gather information in the city. Yinra suggested they begin their investigation at a brothel, as men often confided in women. Geralt followed her advice and visited The Silver Door , where he learned the names of several soldiers who appeared to have more wealth than their peers. They decided to focus on one particular suspect, Oscoe Mills, who spent lavishly. They trailed Oscoe and two companions to The Knight and Shield , a tavern he frequented. As they observed the trio, Geralt opted to follow Oscoe while Yinra kept tabs on the others. Oscoe led Geralt to the Righteous Brand's main barracks at the east entrance of town, which Geralt couldn't enter. Left with no other options, he returned to the inn, not finding Yinra, and retired to his room for the night.
