Kindred Pass

Road connecting Tewich and Ladun through the The Basalt Peaks. Is paved and well traveled, lanterns dot the road frequently. Many valleys and hamlets lie along the Pass, all are a part of Dolinde. Traveling from Tewich to Ladun takes two days of travel without Wheelless Chariots, which are available for hire.

Purpose / Function

Large road connecting Tewich and Ladun. The only major roadway to cross the Basalt Peaks and the only way to easily travel to or from the Swina Marshes. The halfway point hosts the Valley Market and The Pilgrim and Pass.

Architecture

Along each side of the Kindred Pass, smaller roads jut off into the Basalt Peaks. Valleys of farmland lie on these roads making Dolinde impossible to siege successfully. No farmland is outside the walls of either Tewich or Ladun. The valleys of the Kindred Pass are much more temperate and sheltered from inclement weather. The soil is very rich in nutrients due to the warmth of the mountains. Fruit, vegetables, and livestock grown here sustain not only Dolinde, but the surround villages of the Shara Steppes and Swina Marshes as well.

Defenses

Being surrounded on all sides, no defenses are needed on the road. The ends of the road are fortified citadels and flanking the north and south sides of the road are the Basalt Peaks which are impossible for an army to cross.

Tourism

At the peak of the Kindred Pass is a shrine of the Temple of the Dyad. Traveling here and offering a prayer at this shrine is seen as the most effective method of reaching both Eltolinde and Rosalinde, and therefor the most likely to be answered.   Not far from the shrine is a large inn, The Pilgrim and Pass the only large building directly on the Kindred Pass outside of either citadel which is located adjacent to the Valley Market.
