Shara Steppes
Large, arid, and desolate grasslands between the Sea of Sand and The Basalt Peaks . The winds that sweep the area prevent anything less hardy than waist high grass from growing. The landscape is dry and cracked. The fissures can be dangerously deep and hidden beneath the grass so traveling off of established roads is tedious and perilous.
Geography
A large, arid steppe covered in waist high grass and beset by strong winds. Rivers are blown away unless they are able to bore into the earth. Few rivers exist, and those that do are hidden beneath the grass. Large fissure are also camoflaged in the grasslands and can be miles deep.
The border with the Sea of Sand is a massive cliff that has few trails leading down. The most prominent on leads to Jetsam and is flanked by an aqueduct that is fed by an underground river.
Ecosystem
Some large creatures roam the grasslands, but most are small and prefer to hide or burrow. Underneath the Steppe is an entire subterranian ecosystem that has yet to be fully discovered. Most researchers who venture below the grass do not return.
Climate
Arid, dry and constantly swept by strong winds. The Steppes are a hostile place to live.
Natural Resources
Minerals exposed by the wind or daringly mined from the Steppes are incredibly rare and valuable.
