Full Moon Walks
Every full moon some citizens may gather for a stroll through the forest with lanterns to shrines for prayers or to make offerings to the guardian spirits. Some may take a walk to strengthen their bond with the moon goddess Crestella others go sightseeing for the rare spirits.Annual Parade
Every year Zenonians plan a large multi-day festival to honor their discovery of the Zen crystals and protection from the spirits. During this festival, the entire kingdom is decorated and there are various stalls selling food, souvenirs, artifacts, clothing and so much more. People wear costumes representing different spirits they believe protecting them (like Kistunes) and perform dances all around. There are talent shows of people showing off their greatest tricks and storytellers sharing the many myths and legends of the kingdom. Shrines are scattered around for the people to make offerings to the spirits. On the last day, Zenonia has a parade that travels throughout the entire kingdom. The floats are decorated with and powered by zen crystals and magic.Social Roles/Family
Government StructureThe people of Zenonia are governed by a multi-tiered system that balances symbolic monarchy with representative governance:
Emperor/Empress
The Emperor or Empress comes from a single noble family that has ruled Zenonia since its establishment. They are highly important considering that they are the main center-point in the kingdoms cultural festivals, and main handler in diplomatic affairs and oversees resource management. HeirThe next Emperor/Empress is typically the eldest child of the current leader and is often evaluated by the council to ensure suitability for the role. When the heir is too young or unprepared, a regency council comprises clan members to oversee the governance until the heir is ready to assume the throne.
Council of Clans
A Council made up of representatives from various clans plays a crucial role in governance. The Emperor or Empress consults this council to make major decisions concerning laws, resource allocation, and overall state affairs. Local Governance
Each city is governed by a locally chosen representative, elected by the citizens. These representatives are responsible for implementing decisions made by the Emperor/Empress and the Council. They handle local concerns and have the authority to bring suggestions and issues to the attention of the Council and the Emperor/Empress. Gender RolesTraditionally Zenonian men partake in professions, such as farming, crafting, or military/administrative work, while women traditionally stay at home caring for children and chores or participate in organizing festival activities. This is not restricted to those who wish to pursue other opportunities in work, military, home, or festival activities.
Religion, Beliefs
Zenonians believe that the land they live on is home to and protected by a variety of spirits, one in particular the Kitsune. Sneaky multi-tailed foxes have gathered a profound number of sightings. There are stories from sailors of a large water spirit, Umi Bozu, who is known to sink trespassing ships. To show appreciation and respect for the spirits they build shrines to make prayers and offerings too.Living/Habitat
