The Questing Blade
One of the Artifacts of Skaldor, the Questing Blade is a longsword that bends its powers to the preferences of it's true master, that being whoever pulls in from the stone in which it is embedded. Upon the death of the master, the sword always returns to its embedded state near the home of the fallen fighter. It can only be pulled from the stone by the pure of heart, but it can be gifted to a new master as the swordbearer sees fit. The sword is intelligent and inherently knows the deeds of great heroes. In its many incarnations, the sword has been a blade of ice, shot fireballs, fought on its own, and at one point could teleport around a battlefield. It was originally crafted as a gift from Queen Mab to the first King of Lancaster, but was repurposed in the time of Skaldor by the Tegdylun sorcerer Merilynn Bryte.
