Half-Copper Theater
So named for the notoriously cheap entry fees, Half-Copper performances are considered to be the lowest form of entertainment in all Illiria. They are even sometimes refered to as "Masqued Theater" because nobility who dare attend such things almost always do so in disguise, and most thespians involved similarly disguise themselves not just for playing characters but also out of a deep sense of shame. Performances often devolve into actual violence that has rendered non-Guild performances banned in over half of major cities on the continent. Enthusiasts seek out the worst performances they can find, and career copper actors will often embrace the art and make a point of out-awfuling each other. Even Guild actors have commented on the sheer talent it takes to convincingly deliver a performance that's so bad it loops back around to being good on purpose. Traditionally, the owners of a half-copper performance are expected to split the profits with the actors completely evenly under threat of violence. Those who latch onto such theaters for work are usually desperate and looking to hide. Most of the profits come from equally cheap alcohol and suspiciously secured food. Despite the negative (and well deserved) reputation of these theaters and troupes, they do have a dedicated following and remains a beloved form of entertainment among the working classes of places like Triumph and Veeracht.
