Bronzehold

Government

Bronzehold is the formal seat of House Skalxien in theory, but not in practice. Typically, the Royal Family appoints a relative from a minor House to the position of Lord of Bronzehold, but in recent years Lawrence Skalxien, brother to King Richard, has ruled Bronzehold directly and effectively.

Defences

Since every mile of wall is marked with a tower, and every ten miles a garrisoned gate, Bronzehold is capable at any time of fielding the largest independent military in the Empire. Bronzite soldiers typically avoid aviation and mechanical assets, but are more capable than most of utilizing magical resources thanks to a long-standing policy of including minor magic in guard training.

Infrastructure

Bronzehold is a perfect hexagon of bronze walls fifty feet tall, with towers along every mile of wall. The city is crossed north, south, east, and west with perfectly straight brick roads leading from the four Great Gates of Bronzehold. At the exact center of the city stands the Great Belltower, also bronze. Newer buildings are popularly made of dark brick imported from Kuasta, or with solid wooden walls and clay. Smaller roads of packed earth, marked with raised steel bumpers, lead to each major building in the city. In recent years, Prince Lawrence has launched a personal project to bring modern aviation infrastructure to Bronzehold for public use. This has been widely successful with the introduction of tethered balloons that specifically go from one station to the next and back again. There are thirty such balloons in place at the moment with more planned.
