Rin Ga'Vel Character in Evermore | World Anvil

Rin Ga'Vel

Rin G'Val, half drow ranger, was born to a drow mother and an undetermined father prior to the fall of the West. Being raised among his drow brethren, Rin became curious about his origins from the other side of the of his genealogy. Determined, he set out into the Western Kingdom of Evermore and joined the scouts after the fall of Goodwill, hiding his unusual heritage with bandages, a mask and clever uses of the disguise kit to blend in with the survivors of that horrible tragedy.

Many years had passed, and over the years he had learned much of the ways of the people of the West, but also much of their ignorance when it came to his race. He wished he could of spent more time in those days, the tepid peace that blanketed that place in time. But like all things it was not meant to last. Open war came again to the land, first the Eastern capitol falling, and then the West. All fueled, as he saw it, by the lack of understanding between all the peoples of the land. Too many grudges were held, and everyone was the victim in their own story, and old enemies never changed.

Seeing that this chaotic land was not a place to knock any sense into anyone, he left the chaos and went back to his people. After the aftermath of the Great Battle at the Tree, and the exodus of many of his people from the land of Yeshaii, his people were left with a choice:to live as they had, in servitude or suspicion from the other peoples of the land, or to finally do something different. Having already tried such a tactic before, Rin proposed what would soon after become the Vel group.

They spread out into the ruined lands of the Old West, taking in anyone and everyone of differing races in the common goal of building trust between the Drow and the other races of the land. Re purposing the old, now mostly abandoned forts of the Old Kingdom, they opened trade with the rest of the world between their people. For as diverse as they were they all had a common goal:survival.

After many years news began to come in about until now unseen lands in the Far West, and as the ambassador to this group Rin took it upon himself to head there, for the survival of his people, and perhaps of all peoples, might very well be found there. This is his story.
