Goldback squirrel

This larger rodent nests mainly the rocky desert of Sneadal. Beside its large, tufted ears, pouch folds of skin, used for gilding, and the shaggy tail, curled in a ball; its beautiful, shiny, metal-colored fur makes it unique among the squirrels of Evera. Their primary food is the Sandy Bloodgrass, but they also chew the fruit of cacti and other edible plants. Goldback squirrels nests in the highest hollows of the rock canyons, where they gathering food for the rainy season, when the cubs are born. Usually 2-3 baby squirrels born in a litter at the beginning of the rainy season. Most of them build a new nest with their own partner a year later, but the sneadal hunters also observed that all the males or females left without a partner in a given colony build a joint nest for the scarcer times. The Temples of Light in Sneadal have been capturing these nests since the Age of Darkness, and releasing them into the temple grounds. The goldback squirrels make their nests comfortable with dry grass and shed fur. The foreign raiders scouting the desert, seeing the golden glint on the side of the rocks, explored the island with the conviction - and they still do it time to time - that fabulous gold reserves are to be found the deep in the hot rocks and sparking sand, and because of this, the sneadal people sure to hide unimaginable treasures in their homes and temples.
