Fairies of Evera in Evera | World Anvil

Fairies of Evera

The fairies were created by Goddess Narmiraen before the beginning of time to protect and care for her other creatures, the forests, and plants.
The ancient fairies were fashioned from plants, while later the Goddess of All Life created fairies based on other creatures, such as the Parod living on the continent of Damus. Fairies can be found in every region of Evera, and can even appear on the elemental planes. They live in large numbers on the Elemental plane of Earth and Nature. Dryads have been mentioned before, but I will try to list the rest in this summary.

Ent

Ents are giant fairies modeled on trees. Once every forest had its Ent ranger. They usually live a few hundred years. Today these guardians have been destroyed in many places because they did not tolerate change, either by elves or other races, and reacted aggressively to any actions that disturbed the peace of the forest they guarded. There are still living Ents in this world. In the Valley of Nehalenor, every forest has its Ent guardian, and when they get old, they plant a seed in the tribe's sanctuary, where the new guardian will learn from the age of sprouting. These young Ents learn from both their predecessors and the Narmiron priestesses, making them far more flexible in their thinking than most of their kind. It also happens elsewhere that young Ents living near civilizations are willing to unite with other folks against a common enemy. In the northern part of Ilia Bay, in the Mavaria Empire, in its Third Era, a young Ent joined the elves and held a military rank while fighting beside them against the Darkness that fell upon its forest. In general, most of the ancient Ents are feral, aggressive creatures who consider any humanoid to be an intruder and will attack an unsuspecting traveler without a second thought if he dares to set a campfire near their territory. These giant fairies no longer plant seeds just to produce a new guardian because they age, but to increase their strength with their numbers. They are strong, dangerous opponents, able to use Natural magic in addition to Fairy magic. Ents are sensitive to fire. They are intelligent beings, speaking the Sylvan language. Some of them learn an elven dialect or even the Sheyarin.

Pixi (Flower fairy)

Pixies are small fairies modeled after flowers. For this reason, they can have extremely diverse appearances and can hide relatively easily. Compared to most fairies, they are short-lived, at thirty years they are considered old. They are usually cheerful, curious, but vain creatures. They collect anything that glitters, it doesn't bother them if the object is owned by someone else. They love music, the arts, and the love to compete. Pixies often hold parties, the climax of which is always a kind of beauty contest. They love to have fun so much that they sometimes sneak into the parties of the big folks too. This doesn't mean that they will reveal their presence but to the trained eye, it can be suspicious if two flowers circulate in the wind to the beat of the music for long minutes. Pixies have wings, they are butterfly or dragonfly-like wings, and they can fly very well. They can use Fairy magic and can become invisible if they want. Pixies are sensitive to fire and cold. They live in communities, and up to a hundred fairies live together in a Commune. Pixies sometimes live with Dryads or other fairies. Rarely, but it happens, that a Pixie becomes friends with someone, and joins him with his adventures. They speak the Sylvan, and most of them never learn any other language.

Kobold (Mushroom fairy)

Kobolds are slightly larger than Pixies, full-bodied little fairies. They are similar to the other species in many ways, but they love their bellies more than anything else. They usually spend their days gathering food. They also like music and fun, but they fear the big folks more, so they rarely venture into a populated area. Kobolds cannot fly, but they dig very well. Although they can't become invisible, they can hide adeptly - or at least disappear underground in the blink of an eye. The biggest and deadliest enemy of the Kobolds is the Mole. They are immune to almost all poisons but sensitive to acid and fire. Kobolds can use Fairy magic with some unique Earth-element style. Kobolds live in a Commune of up to thirty species and speak the Sylvan, and some of them the Deep-Speach or the Whisper of Stone.

Nymph (Water fairy)

Nymphs are slightly larger water fairies than Pixies. Shape-shifting creatures, usually tiny humanoids wearing waterlily-like clothing. They are fond of singing and dancing. Nymphs don't like to leave the waterfront they consider their home. Unlike the other small fairies, they are far from friendly. If someone disturbs their peace, hurts one of them, or endangers their home, they try to drown him with united forces. Then they organize a feast from the remains. Nymphs have wings that are like those of dragonflies. They can swim and breathe underwater. These fairies are sensitive to poisons and acid and can use Fairy magic.

Faun (Deer fairy)

Fauns appear to have a body of a deer from the waist down, with a humanoid (elf) upper body from the waist up. They run around the forests on four nimble legs. Their appearance may differ in different climates. In Nehalenor and most regions of Utea they live with brown color, in Zililon with the fur of the Fourhorn, and on Damus we can find the pattern of the Spotted Gazelle. Some Fauns have horns on their head.
Narmiraen created them to protect the woodland animals after Solioran populated Evera with his creatures.
Fauns are shy, reclusive creatures who avoid populated areas and strangers. If they are surprised - it takes a lot of luck or effort - they run away. Fauns usually do not initiate a fight, even to protect themselves, but if the creatures of their forest are in trouble, they immediately rush to their aid. Fauns can use Fairy magic, and a little bit of Nature and even Power magic, so they can be deadly opponents.
Fauns live in herds in huge forests where there are no settlements for several days' walk.

Snow fox (Fox fairy)

Snow foxes got their names after their fur and not from their habitat. Appaering anywhere in Evera, they are believed to be the eyes and ears and even messengers of Narmiraen. They are slightly bigger than ordinary foxes, have sapphire blue eyes, and they snow-white fur is legendarily beautiful and thick in every season, on which all light sparkles.
Snow foxes can lead a lost wanderer in a safe path or an adventurer to a place where Narmiraen's creatures need help. Injuring or killing these foxes brings a terrible curse, which has been the undoing of many greedy trappers and nobles.
They are lonely creatures that disappear as quickly as they arrived. Snow foxes can use Fairy magicand some of them can speak languages too. They are sensitive to fire and poison.

Satyr

Satyrs are tall humanoids, stag-like bodies from waist down with a  humanoid (human) torso. They have two legs and antlers on their heads, which grow with age. Satyrs have beautiful, noble faces and the males also grow facial hair.
Just as Narmiraen created the Dryads after the Ents as an even better version, so Satyrs were created after the Fauns. They were the first druids in the world of Evera, long before the creation of the elves.
Some Satyrs can live five or six hundread years, but they are much more likely to die in battle sooner. They are more intelligent and stronger than the other fairies, both physically and magically. They can use Fairy magic, but can learn all kinds of magic, and they eager to learn. Most of them remailn in the wilderness, but there are some whose desire to learn leds them into wizard masters or straight to the cities. Because they are easily influenced at a young age, there are Satyrs who are carried away by Chaos and Evil if a sufficiently intelligent person can influence their logic and convince them of its necessarity.
Satyrs love company, music, the arts, godd food and drinks, and are passionate lovers, though not the most loyal of partners. They do not like to be alone, so if there are not to many of their kind around, they join other fairies or like-minded humanoids. Satyrs sometimes move in with Greendragons.
They speak Sylvan and usually a few more languages too. The reaction in an encounter always depends on how the other person acted or what the Satyr assumes about him.
Satyrs are fairly resistant to magic, but vunerable to acid and fire.
