A Red Dress

A simple dress made of red linen, tied at the waist with a sash of the same colour.

Clandestine Endeavours

In Hammar, smugglers use young women wearing a red dress to deliver small goods in public, without attracting the attention of the Law. The young woman is given a covered basket and a word or phrase. She stands in a prearranged location, always in public and often crowded places. When someone addresses her with the right word or phrase, she hands over the basket and the two part ways.   This method assures the anonymity of both parties, and the safety of the delivery person. The young woman is often external or very low level within the smuggling organization. This way she will not be of any worth even if she should be captured.

In Rhyddan Culture

In Rhyd, red clothing is common and popular. Bright colours are overall viewed as a sign of prosperity. Red is the colour of fertility and strength.   The Sect Of The Guardian Spirits attribute red to Alkymbre, Saviour Light and Spirit of the Sun, but put no limits on dress. People of the Sect take pride in wearing as many bright and full colours as possible.

In Fedheran Culture

Red coloured clothing is usually connected to people of Faith, especially that of the Decendants of Sonoderi. The Sonoderi claim a particular shade of dark red for themselves, and have forbidden its use by others. Priests and holy men wear a more faded red for their robes. Bright, saturated colours are viewed as either frivolous or barbaric.   While women do not often wear red, as they cannot hold a holy position within the Faith of the Great Eith, it is becoming more common in younger generations. A red dress on a woman may signify her silent protest to the monarchy, or to the patriarchy, or she could be Rhyddan.
